Stitching Towards 2026 – Celebrating 50 Years!
Quilt Guild of Greater Houston is excited to begin our journey to a monumental milestone—our 50th Anniversary in 2026! Plans are underway, and we need your help to make this celebration truly special.

We’re still looking for enthusiastic members to join the 50th Anniversary Committee. If you’re interested in helping plan and coordinate events for this grand celebration, we’d love to have you on board!

50th Anniversary Highlights & Reminders

Gold and White Quilt Challenge
Let your creativity shine!  Quilts, Wearables, etc.

  • “Gold” is open to your interpretation—use your imagination!
  • There is no required color for the quilt back.
  • Size Limits: 36" x 45" up to 60" x 80" Minimum width 36", maximum width 60“. Minimum length 45", maximum length 80" 
  • Due Date: First meeting in January 2026.

    Gold and White Quilt Challenge Notes

    All Gold and White Challenge quilts will follow these guidelines:

    • Quilts will not be judged unless they are entered into the Joy of Quilts 2027 Exhibition.
    • Quilts must be prepared for hanging at a show (a hanging sleeve is required).
    • Each quilt will be officially recorded with the quilter’s name, quilt title, size, and a photograph.
    • challenge label with the official logo will be provided at the meeting.
    • Quilts will remain with the owner until it is time for exhibition.
    • basic photo of each quilt will be taken at the meeting for documentation.

    Please bring your quilt to the meeting for documentation and Show & Tell — whether it is finished or still in progress.

    This challenge officially launches our celebration of being the first quilting guild in Texas and in Houston.

    Quilts of Valor Program – Honoring Women Veterans
    We will host a special program and reception in November 2026 to present Quilts of Valor.

    • We are especially hoping to honor women veterans.
    • Quilts Due: June 2026.
    • More details coming soon about sew-ins, sew-alongs, and more!
    • Visit the QOV website for info on who can be awarded a QOV Quilt
    • Click HERE for form to submit name of veteran.  You will be able to revisit your answers, and we will be able to track names and requirements for all our nominees.  The information will be transferred to the QOV Foundation

    Quilt Labels
    Custom quilt labels will be provided for all quilts submitted as part of the anniversary events.

    We're planning a full year of fun in 2026 and want your ideas for monthly activities to keep the celebration going. Got a fun idea? Let us know!

    Anniversary Souvenir Booklet – Member Ads
    We’re creating a special souvenir booklet to commemorate our 50th Anniversary!

    • Member Ads are available for $25 per half-page.
    • Share a memory, tribute, photo, or special message!
    • Ad Deadline: March 2026
